The Jewish Federations of North America held its annual conference in Israel in November 2013, which it does every five years, hosting thousands of attendees at the International Convention Center (ICC Jerusalem).
At a reception they held for Israeli VIPs, leaders of the Ruderman Family Foundation were able to familiarize and connect their guests with what has been happening in Jewish communities throughout North America. They also
hosted President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who shared with the attendees some of their personal experiences visiting American Jewish communities, and stressed the importance of preserving and strengthening Israel’s ties with Diaspora Jewish communities in general and American Jewry in particular. Among the guests at the reception were Jewish Agency chairman Natan Sharansky, former IDF Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, Ambassador Dore Gold, basketball legend Tal Brody, Knesset members and journalists.
In addition to the reception held under the Foundation’s auspices, its leaders took part in various discussions throughout the conference, presenting their perspective on Israel – US relations and their work acquainting Israeli decisionmakers with American Jewish life).
