Extending my journey with The Academy

I graduated from the Academy Gold internship program! What an incredible summer it has been. I’m so grateful to the Ruderman Family Foundation and to the Academy for supporting me on this amazing journey.

This internship was an eight-week exclusive summer experiential and educational program offering panels, interactive workshops, hands-on technical production workshops, access to member screenings and networking opportunities with members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

We obtained firsthand knowledge about above- and below-the-line entertainment industry careers including directing, producing, cinematography, production design, post production, film editing, film financing and distributions.

In a nutshell, this internship was like taking a huge, action-packed and inspiring class on all aspects of the entertainment industry at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

One of the great blessings of this internship was being able to partner with the Ruderman Family Foundation to create this blog that documented my personal journey through the Academy Gold program, and my experiences as an actress with a disability during this incredible movement of inclusion and authentic representation in the entertainment industry.

This blog has been an awesome outlet for me. Thank you to RFF for providing a space for me to explore my thoughts and ideas on how to further the inclusion of people with disabilities in Hollywood. Many, many, many thanks to all the readers for following along on my journey. I am so grateful for all your love and support.

I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my blog with RFF as I conduct research at the Academy Film Archive on disability-related content. This research is very important to my own education as an artist with a disability. I’m so excited to see what I learn and discover. Very excited to be able to take you along with me through this next journey.

Thank you again to the Academy and to the Ruderman Family Foundation for an incredible summer that I will never forget!

Here is an awesome picture of me with newly elected President of the Academy, David Rubin, shortly after the Academy Gold graduation ceremony!
