Dr. J. Irene. Harris has been a clinician-investigator at VA Bedford Healthcare System since 2018. From 2002 to 2018, she served as a clinician, administrator, and investigator at Minneapolis VA Healthcare System. She has been affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical School since 2006 and holds the rank of associate professor. Harris holds master’s degrees in Education from College of St. Rose, Albany, New York, and in Rehabilitation Counseling from SUNY, Albany, as well as a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. She has been doing research in spirituality and mental health for 30 years, with a focus on spiritually integrated care for moral injury, addiction, and PTSD. Harris also provides national leadership through positions on the American Psychological Association’s Task Force on Serious Mental Illness and Serious Emotional Disorders, The Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention’s Recovery Transformation Workgroup, and as chair of VA’s Mental Health Lived Experience Community of Practice.
